How it works

A super-resolution model reconstructs edges and texture as it enlarges your image, rather than stretching the pixels you already have. It runs on a GPU on our side, so there is nothing for you to download and nothing for your machine to do: a few seconds for a typical photo, and the same result whatever device you are on. This used to run in your browser, which meant every visitor downloaded the model first and then waited on their own CPU — slower, and the quality depended on the machine. Your image is uploaded to do this and deleted afterwards on the normal retention schedule.

Upscale an image to a higher resolution online with AI. Instead of the soft, blocky result of a plain resize, a neural model reconstructs detail as it enlarges — making small or low-resolution images bigger and sharper.

AI upscaling vs a plain resize

A plain resize stretches the existing pixels, so an enlarged image turns soft and blocky. AI upscaling instead reconstructs new detail along edges and textures as it enlarges, so a small or low-resolution image comes out bigger and genuinely sharper — enough to print or use as a banner.

Runs on a GPU, on our side

The model runs on a GPU on our side, so there is nothing for you to download and the wait does not depend on your machine. Your image is uploaded to do this and deleted automatically an hour later. It reconstructs plausible detail but cannot invent information that was never captured, so results are best on reasonably clean sources.

How to upscale an image

  1. 1Upload the small or low-resolution image.
  2. 2Choose 2x or 4x — the model multiplies each side by that much.
  3. 3The model upscales it on our server, usually in seconds.
  4. 4Download the larger, sharper image.

When to use AI upscale

  • Enlarging an old or low-resolution photo without it going blurry.
  • Making a small image big enough to print or use as a banner.
  • Recovering usable resolution from a tiny thumbnail or avatar.

Tips

  • AI upscaling reconstructs plausible detail; it cannot invent information that was never there, so results are best on reasonably clean sources.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from just resizing bigger?

A plain resize stretches existing pixels, so the image gets soft and blocky. AI upscaling reconstructs new detail along edges and textures, so the enlarged image stays sharp.

Is my image uploaded?

Yes — your image is uploaded so our server can do the work, and it is deleted automatically an hour later. No account is needed.

Can it fix a very blurry photo?

It improves clean, low-resolution images the most. It cannot recover detail that a heavily blurred or damaged photo never contained.
